OK, due to some family stuff taking up all my time, I haven't had a chance to seriously play Resistance 2 for the review, but I will get that out as soon as I can. So to tide you guys over, here's some first impressions on Mortal Kombat (9 or 2011, whichever you want to call it)

2D is back and hopefully here to stay! I love that the series has returned to its 2D roots. Not only that, but a lot of the stages are 3D renders of classic MK stages. Love the callbacks here to the original MKs. And along with the classic stages and 2D plane are the controls. For the most part, the controls and combos are the same (or similar enough) as they were before the series went 3D. Ever since that happened, the controls have changed every game and you had to relearn all the moves!! Who enjoyed that? Glad the controls are simplified once again. Hopefully the controls will remain more or less consistent throughout the rest of the series. And fatalities once again make a return in all their bloody, gory glory! Old school style Mortal Kombat is back and hopefully it won't be going anywhere!!
A full review will be up after I play through story mode and the PSN is back up so I can get some versus mode in.
